S1 Trail

A new start, with a course that is even more technical and demanding. Works for the construction of high-speed trains in Slovenia led us to divert the route from the characteristic passage to the partisan hospital and the ascent to the Beka forests. ...

KEEP ON RUNNING! This is the stretch in which to give the maximum. You have just finished one of the two technical sections of the race, you have overcome the biggest ascent and the most insidious sections of the course...

You will cross the town of Opicina, passing under the Opelina Obelisk. The starting point of the S1 Half. From here the two races overlap...

Ready to cross the lands of “Prosecco”? Yes, because it is precisely in Contovello and Prosecco that the Glera is grown, a vine at the base of the famous “Prosecco” wine....

You finish crossing the village of Santa Croce and take a dirt road, after 100 meters you turn left and go down towards the “Sentiero della Salvia” you will follow for about 1 km...

S1 Sprint

An easy easy start, along an easy path and a dirt road that demands you to run. Only after two kilometers, this placid path climbs on the slopes of Mount Ter covering in less than a km 165 meters of difference in altitude....

S1 Ultra

The start in the dark will not give you the beautiful view of the Rilke Trail, in the first section. It is two km that worths to visit the day before or after the race: a panorama overlooking the Gulf of Trieste framed by the castles of Miramare and Duino....

A very challenging section, where you can test the roughness of the Karst terrain. Although the altimetric profile does not seem to anticipate great efforts, this is one of the most challenging sections of the race. It is not steep or exposed but very rough and the paths are extremely jagged...

After the 25 km section, a Half Marathon! After leaving the Brgod refreshment area, you go up the Slavnik mountain, a smooth path with a soft slope will lead you to the summit. From here begins a fast descent and a section of ups and downs on a dirt road. A rather easy stretch and where to develop speed. ...

THE TOUGH PART! After leaving the Golac checkpoint, the most challenging part of the race begins, a climb to Mount Ostric and then 15 km of steep ridges. This is the part where you will have the slowest pace of the whole race. Pay close attention to the signs, it is very easy to get distracted and get lost in a very thick and insidious forest. Never abandon the path. ...

DON’T GET IT WRONG! Looking at the profile and the map it would seem that the most challenging section is the climb from the 14th kilometer. You are wrong! ...

Well, if you read the altitude profile and you might say: “I will go up, then go down, after that there will be a flat section and then il will go down again”....

Mount Nanos, in Slovenian. Monte Re, in Italian, Monte Ocra, in Roman times. It is one of the most significant points of the Karst. This is because it dominates the crossroads between the arteries that connect Ljubiana, ...

The most rugged part is over! But the challenge is not over at all. You are about to cross one of the wildest and coldest sections of the race....

Per chi non è mai stato a Gorizia o a Nova Gorica, la differenza tra le due città nemmeno si nota. Eppure queste due realtà, da sempre con un confine che corre tra le case, erano due mondi ben distinti e separati fino a pochi anni fa....

If you’ve come this far, the difficult part is now over. Have a good rest in this aid station and regain your energies, from now on the race becomes easier and easier....

Some golden rules on the use of the headlamp and GPS. We remind you that all S1 races, except Ipertrail are marked and do not need GPS. Headtorch In cold weather, the batteries run out faster, so it is good to always have an additional supply compared to the warm season. It is a good rule to always keep the batteries warm to preserve their charge, possibly in an internal jacket pocket or in the backpack right in contact with the back in order to be exposed to the body heat. The batteries must be charged well before the race and kept at temperatures possibly above 10 degrees even before the race...
