Trail runner on the Carso above the Gulf of Trieste on a winter's day
Corsa della Bora · 9-10 January 2027

The Frecciarossa gets you here.
Your race number is waiting in your room.

If you set off from Milan, Vicenza and Padua you reach Trieste Centrale with no changes and you are in the city by midday; from Bologna and Florence the direct train gets in during the afternoon, and from Turin you change in Milan. Then the hotel is a five-minute walk from the station and the S1 shuttles do the rest: a winter weekend by the sea, without a car.

Two lines lead to Trieste: the one from Milan runs through Verona, Vicenza and Padua; the one from Florence and Bologna comes up along the Adriatic. From the station to the hotel is a five-minute walk, and from the hotel to PortoPiccolo the S1 shuttle does the rest.

The conditions, in short

The train is not in the total

On Frecciarossa and Italo the fare changes with the day and with how early you book: you buy the ticket yourself on trenitalia.com or italotreno.it, and it is not counted in the prices above.

One night or two

The prices above are for two nights, 9 and 10 January. If your race finishes in time for the Sunday evening train, the night of the 9th is enough: € 88 in a single room instead of € 176, and you choose it from your runner profile like everything else.

Two hours between race and train

Shower, something to eat, prize-giving, shuttle and station. For the 17:05 train that means finishing by 15:05. The shuttle runs every hour and takes 40 minutes: the relaxed choice is the 15:00, and that means finishing by 14:00.

Prices are per person

They include entry to the race, two nights in a single room and the shuttle where you need it. In a double room it is € 68 less per person, and with just one night € 88 less.

How to book

First entry to the race, then the hotel and the shuttle from your runner profile. The train ticket is down to you: the package isn’t sold as a single purchase.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a direct Frecciarossa from Milan to Trieste?Yes. The Frecciarossa leaves Milano Centrale at 07:45 and reaches Trieste Centrale at 12:05 with no changes, calling at Brescia, Verona Porta Nuova, Vicenza, Padua and Venezia Mestre. There are two more in the afternoon, from Milan at 15:15 and 17:15. These times are from the 2026 rail timetable: the new timetable comes into force on 13 December 2026.
What time do trains leave from Vicenza and Padua? The same train as from Milan: Vicenza at 09:27, Padua at 09:46, arriving at Trieste Centrale at 12:05. They are the two best-connected of the six cities: on Sunday evening the 17:05 train gets you back to Padua at 19:14 and Vicenza at 19:32.
How do you get here from Florence and Bologna?Directly, but in the afternoon: the InterCity calls at Firenze Rifredi at 13:33 and Bologna at 14:51, reaching Trieste at 18:37; Italo calls at Firenze S.M.N. at 16:39 and Bologna at 17:21, getting in at 20:56. If you want to be in Trieste earlier, change at Venezia Mestre.
And from Turin? There is only one direct Frecciarossa, leaving Torino Porta Nuova at 18:35 and reaching Trieste at 23:45. To be in Trieste by midday you change in Milan and take the 07:45 Frecciarossa.
Can I get home on Sunday evening? It depends on your race. The train is the 17:05 from Trieste Centrale — Padua 19:14, Vicenza 19:32, Milan 21:15 — and you need two hours between finishing and departure, so you have to be finished by 15:05. The Borin, the Family Hike and the Trieste Ultra always make it; on the Half you need an average of 4.1 km/h starting at 09:30 and 4.5 km/h starting at 10:00; on the Borderless 5.9 km/h; on the TransKarst 6.8 km/h, and on the Bora Ultra 20 hours, which means 5.8 km/h. For Bologna and Rome there is also the 18:47 night train, which gives you an extra hour and forty-two minutes and calls at Bologna at 23:58. The night train does not stop in Florence: if you are heading back to Florence, you leave on Monday morning.
And if I finish late? You stay the second night at the NH Trieste and leave on Monday morning: from Trieste Centrale at 06:00 towards Milano Porta Garibaldi (09:55) and Torino Porta Nuova (11:06), at 06:38 towards Bologna (09:49), at 07:07 towards Padua (09:14), Vicenza (09:32) and Milano Centrale (11:15), at 08:02 towards Bologna (11:39) and Firenze S.M.N. (12:20).
How much does a weekend at the Corsa della Bora cost if you come by train from Italy?Prices start at € 184 per person: entry to the 4 km S1 Borin and two nights at the Hotel NH Trieste in a single room, shuttles included. The train ticket is not included, because Frecciarossa and Italo fares change with the day and with how early you book. Entry, room and shuttles are all booked from your runner profile.
How do I get from Trieste station to the start? The S1 shuttles link Trieste Centrale and PortoPiccolo: the outbound trip costs € 4, the return is free, and anyone who books the Hotel NH Trieste from their runner profile gets them free. On the Sunday the return leaves every hour, from 13:00 to 20:00.
Do these times apply to January 2027 as well? The times published here are from the rail timetable in force until 12 December 2026. The new timetable comes into force on 13 December 2026, ahead of the Corsa della Bora on 9 and 10 January 2027: check departures again on trenitalia.com and italotreno.it after that date.
