Last updated: 01 December 2025

1

Definition of competitions and organisation

The ASD SentieroUNO is a non-profit organisation that organises the races in cooperation with the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and the municipalities involved. The events are organised on a non-profit basis, but with the intention of promoting the territory, sport and the values of trail running.

These principles form the foundation of competitions, and the decisions of the competition management are always guided by them. Competitions offer qualifying points for the ITRA and UTMB circuits and are under the aegis of CONI and AICS.

2

Participation Requirements

In order to participate in an S1 Competitive event, it is necessary:

  1. Be fully aware of the length and specificity of the race and have a adequate training.
  2. To have acquired, prior to the competition, a real capacity for personal autonomy in the mountains that allows one to manage possible problems, in particular:
    • Being able to cope independently with very difficult weather conditions (night, wind, cold, fog, rain or snow).
    • Being able to handle physical or mental complications caused by extreme fatigue, gastrointestinal disorders, muscle or joint pain, minor injuries.
    • Be aware that the role of the organisation is not to assist runners in dealing with their problems and that safety depends above all on the competitor's ability to adapt.
    • Inform and sensitise their companions about respecting places, people and the rules of the race.

Valid competitive medical certificate (athletics, cross-country skiing, triathlon, cycling or swimming) compulsory for Italian citizens and non-citizens registered in Italy with a federation or sports promotion body recognised by CONI.

Competitive race classification: Bora Ultra (116 km), Trieste Ultra (61 km), TransKarst Ultra (55 km) and Borderless Trail (36 km) are competitive events requiring a competitive medical certificate. Half Trail (23 km) can be run competitively (start 9:30 AM, competitive medical certificate required, ITRA/UTMB Index rankings) or non-competitively (start 10:00 AM, no certificate required). Family Hike & Trail (14.5 km) and Borin (4 km) are non-competitive/recreational events, with no medical certificate required.

3
