In 2024, ‘zero kilometers’ and homemade delicacies make a triumphant return at refreshment points! 🏡🍽️🌿
During the 2021 and 2022 editions of the Corsa della Bora 🏃♀️🌬️, amid the COVID pandemic 😷, we received many positive comments about standardizing and simplifying our aid stations. We provided a few items, already packed and sealed in paper bags 🍞🥤. This approach, besides being safer in a pandemic context, also significantly reduced waste, a primary goal for us ♻️.
However, in 2023, many runners expressed a longing to return to a wider variety of foods 🥘 and homemade products 🏡, as in the early editions. They missed the once-rich buffets, full of local specialties 🍲🍰. But we also know that before the pandemic, this wide variety led to considerable food waste, something we aim to avoid 🚫.
So, in early June, during the Alpe Adria Trail 🏞️, we experimented with a new organization of aid stations. We reintroduced homemade cakes 🥮, seasonal fruits 🍓, and varied the food offer from one aid station to another 🔄, still keeping an eye on minimizing waste.
And the feedback was positive 👍. So, we are gearing up for the upcoming Corsa della Bora with all the delicacies of the early editions, but committed to minimizing waste and respecting the territory 🌍.
The old goodies will return: hand-sliced ham 🍖, smoked salmon 🍣, homemade bread 🍞, olive oil from the Val Rosandra 🫒, and craft beer 🍺. These will be joined by cakes and lasagna. Cheese 🧀, a staple in recent editions, will be downscaled, but we will offer a variety of food that will make each aid station unique. And to add a touch of anticipation to your culinary journey, we will publish a mini-guide 📖 where you can find out in advance what awaits you at each aid station.
This renewed approach to aid stations is a big challenge for us 🎯, but it’s a journey through flavors that we are happy to embark on. Every year, we study and take into account all the feedback received, because it is in the weak points that we find the opportunity to grow and improve 🌱. Your experience at the Corsa della Bora is what matters most to us, and that’s why we are continually striving to optimize our service, aiming to perfectly balance the joy of gastronomic discovery 😋 and respect for the environment and the territory 🌿.
